Two students are in front of the board working on the last question "Derrick draws the figure in red. He estimates that it is 15 square units. Do you agree? Why or why not?"

Ms. Sewell's students worked to explore area with nonstandard units. Students built house models in collaborative groups to expand their understanding of how area is applied in the real world. Students were able to solidify their understanding in a hands-on way that they found exciting and relevant. This is just one example of how the amazing third grade team works to engage students to ensure they develop a love of math!
