E-Bikes and Bicycle Safety

We want to clarify our expectations regarding bicycles and electric bicycles. HCMS is not prohibiting students from riding bicycles or qualifying e-bikes to school, and we are not stopping students from pedaling bicycles on campus.

Our concern is the operation of high-speed electric motors in areas where students are interacting with vehicles, pedestrians, and traffic. We have observed students operating electric bikes at speeds that create safety concerns.

Students who ride bicycles or e-bikes to school should operate them responsibly, follow campus safety expectations, and use pedals while on campus. Motorized bikes without functioning pedals, including devices that more closely resemble electric dirt bikes, may be subject to different laws and law-enforcement requirements.

Our goal is to keep students safe while allowing families to utilize appropriate transportation options.

Car Line and Arrival/Dismissal Reminders

Thank you for your continued patience with our morning and afternoon car lines. We have a record number of students this year, which has increased the volume of vehicles arriving and leaving campus.

In the morning, please remain in the designated car line and follow staff directions. Students should never walk between or through moving vehicles to reach the school.

Please pull forward as far as possible when dropping off or picking up students. This allows us to load and unload more vehicles at one time and helps keep the car line moving efficiently.

For safety, students should always enter and exit the vehicle from the passenger side. Students should never enter or exit on the driver’s side due to moving traffic.

With Bull Pride,

Kris Martinez, Principal
