Thank you for another great week at Hampton Cove Middle School! We appreciate the continued support, patience, and cooperation of our families as we move further into the school year. Please review the important reminders and information below.
Friday, August 28
Club Day.
Students will participate in the clubs they selected during the club selection process.
Clubs are an important part of the middle school experience and provide students with opportunities to explore interests, build relationships, and connect with other students and staff outside of their regular academic classes.
Students should report to their assigned club when instructed. We are excited to see our students enjoy their first Club Day of the school year!
Car Line and Arrival/Dismissal Reminders
Thank you for your continued patience with our morning and afternoon car lines. We have a record number of students this year, which has increased the volume of vehicles arriving and leaving campus.
Students may enter the school beginning at 7:00 AM each morning. Traffic is typically very light at this time, so families who are able to arrive earlier are encouraged to take advantage of this option.
In the morning, please remain in the designated car line and follow staff directions. Students should never walk between or through moving vehicles to reach the school.
Please pull forward as far as possible when dropping off or picking up students. This allows us to load and unload more vehicles at one time and helps keep the car line moving efficiently.
For safety, students should always enter and exit the vehicle from the passenger side. Students should never enter or exit on the driver's side due to moving traffic.
We understand that the changes to our arrival and dismissal procedures have required adjustments for some families. These decisions are made with student safety as our priority, and we appreciate everyone's cooperation.
Attendance and Tardies
Students may be dropped off beginning at 7:00 AM each morning. There is typically little to no traffic at that time, so families who are able to arrive earlier are encouraged to take advantage of the earlier drop-off time.
We understand that unexpected traffic and car-line delays can occur. Students will not be assigned ISS for being late when they are actively waiting in the morning car line.
However, once the morning car line has concluded and vehicles are no longer actively dropping off students, a student arriving after 8:00 AM is considered tardy. At that point, a parent or guardian must come into the school and check the student in through the front office.
Our expectations regarding tardiness during the school day are also focused on students reporting to class on time and not lingering in hallways, bathrooms, or other areas after the bell.
Regular and punctual attendance remains important to student success, and we appreciate families helping students arrive at school on time and ready to begin the school day.
Student Safety
Please continue to remind students to follow staff directions during arrival and dismissal. Students should use designated sidewalks and crosswalks and should never walk between moving vehicles.
Our procedures may not always be the most convenient option for every family, but student safety will always be our priority. Thank you for working with us to maintain a safe environment for all HCMS students.
