Dear Parents and Guardians,
Thank you for another great week at Hampton Cove Middle School! We appreciate the continued support, patience, and partnership of our families as we move into September. The routines and expectations established during these first weeks of school are helping our students settle into a successful school year.
September Is Attendance Awareness Month
September is Attendance Awareness Month, and we want to remind families of the important connection between regular attendance and student success.
Every school day matters. Consistent attendance helps students remain connected to classroom instruction, maintain strong academic progress, and build positive relationships with teachers and classmates.
We appreciate our families making every effort to have students at school, on time, and ready to learn each day. If your child must be absent, please continue to follow our normal procedures for submitting excuses and communicating with the school.
Car Line and Arrival/Dismissal Reminders
Thank you for your continued cooperation with our morning and afternoon car lines. With our increased enrollment this year, we continue to experience a high volume of vehicles during arrival and dismissal.
Students may enter the school beginning at 7:00 AM each morning. Traffic is typically very light at this time, so families who are able to arrive earlier are encouraged to take advantage of this option.
Please remain in the designated car line and follow the directions of staff members. Pull forward as far as possible before allowing students to exit or enter the vehicle. This allows multiple vehicles to load or unload at the same time and helps keep traffic moving.
For safety, students should always enter and exit vehicles from the passenger side. Students should never walk between moving vehicles or cross through the car line.
We appreciate everyone's patience and cooperation as we continue working to make arrival and dismissal as safe and efficient as possible.
Attendance and Tardies
Students may be dropped off beginning at 7:00 AM. Families who are able to arrive earlier are encouraged to do so, as there is typically little to no traffic at that time.
We understand that unexpected traffic and car-line delays can occur. Students will not be assigned ISS for being late when they are actively waiting in the morning car line.
Once the morning car line has concluded and vehicles are no longer actively dropping off students, a student arriving after 8:00 AM is considered tardy. A parent or guardian must come into the school and check the student in through the front office.
During the school day, students are expected to report to each class on time and avoid lingering in hallways, bathrooms, or other areas after the bell.
Student Safety
Please continue talking with your student about following staff directions during arrival, dismissal, and transitions throughout the school day.
Students should use designated sidewalks and crosswalks and should never walk between moving vehicles. While some procedures may require additional time or patience, student safety remains our highest priority.
