Huntsville High School’s own Cadet Cort Flatau has been recognized for his outstanding leadership and dedication, earning the Sons of the American Revolution (SAR) Outstanding JROTC Cadet Award for the Tennessee Valley. In addition to this regional honor, Cort placed second in the statewide competition, standing out among top cadets from across Alabama.

As part of the competition, a selection board reviewed Cort’s cadet record, leadership achievements, and academic performance. Additionally, he submitted a 700-word original essay on “How JROTC Has Prepared Me to Be a Better Citizen of the United States of America,” showcasing his deep understanding of civic responsibility and patriotism.
