The Student Council Senate met this week to finalize Homecoming (HOCO) plans, review proposals, and prepare for upcoming school events. Members discussed spirit stick points for Homecoming Week, dress-up participation incentives, and confirmed that the best mask competition would return as a way to encourage student involvement.
The council approved an advisory idea rubric for float designs, finalized dress guidelines for members of the homecoming court, and decided on a variety of themes for the week. A proposal to assign different colors for seniors and underclassmen was denied.
“Homecoming is one of our biggest traditions, and we want it to be fun, organized, and something the whole school can be proud of,” said Tripp Raleigh, Student Council President.
Additional discussions included reviewing Director of Campus Life Brooklyn Kudlas’ email proposal, approving formal documents of approvals, and addressing dress guidelines to maintain community standards. The Senate also worked on improving the meeting structure using Robert’s Rules of Order, with plans to create an incident report form and a role-play script for training.
These changes aim to ensure smoother events this year and address issues from the past, with the council set to continue planning parade logistics, pep rally details, and other HOCO activities in the coming weeks.
