The Huntsville High School boys and girls track and field teams delivered another remarkable performance, sweeping the Class 7A Section (Region) 4 Championship for the fourth consecutive year. For the girls, this marks their fifth straight sectional title. Prior to 2023, Huntsville had never achieved a sweep of this meet, making this sustained success a truly special chapter in the program’s history.
Both teams showcased exceptional depth and talent, with numerous athletes earning top finishes and qualifying for the state championship meet. Notably, all six relay teams secured qualification, highlighting the program’s strength across multiple events.
Leading the way for the boys was Mikele Ellison, who earned Overall Meet MVP honors with standout performances, including a gold medal in the 400 meters and a record-setting gold in the 4x400 relay. The boys team saw multiple gold medalists across sprinting, distance, field events, and relays, contributing to a dominant team victory.
On the girls side, the team continued its impressive streak with outstanding performances across the board. Several athletes captured gold medals, and multiple relay teams delivered top finishes, including record-setting efforts in the 4x100 relay.
In total, Huntsville athletes brought home numerous medals, with several performances earning silver and bronze honors and a number of new school records set during the meet.
