The boys and girls track & field teams delivered a standout performance at the state meet, combining for the highest total points in school history and setting multiple program benchmarks along the way. Across both squads, athletes exceeded expectations, earned All-State honors, and produced one of the most successful championship performances the program has ever seen.
The boys team finished 4th overall, trailing only Hoover, Hewitt-Trussville, and Vestavia Hills in a highly competitive field.
The team scored a school-record 75 points, surpassing the previous best of 54 by a wide margin. Even more impressively, the boys exceeded their projected point total by 23 points, one of the largest positive differentials in the meet. They were also the only top-five team to both exceed their projection and finish higher than projected (5th).
The girls team placed 6th overall, finishing just 14 points shy of 3rd place, highlighting how close the competition was at the top of the standings.
Their team total of 48 points marks the second-highest point total in the modern era (since 2000). Like the boys, the girls were among the few teams to both exceed their projected score (43) and finish higher than projected (7th). Only state champion Auburn matched that distinction on the girls’ side.
