Hello Jemison High students, parents, stakeholders, and FANS,

I am Demetris Leverette, the Jemison High School Principal. I am originally from Marion, (Perry County), Alabama: a small town with a population of 3, 368. Marion is twenty miles from Selma Al: which is known as the birthplace of the Civil Rights Movement. With modest beginnings, I am the youngest of five siblings: raised by a single mother, Jeraldine Harris. My mother instilled an example of hardwork, being a provider, and trusting GOD. From the roots of Marion Al, I was taught to be an advocate for equal opportunities and fair treatment. Throughout my career, I have made sure my students had the educational opportunities afforded equally in order for them to be successful. I strive on being a “game-changer” and leaving no child behind.

I am committed to the Jemison community and dedicated to ensuring every child has a safe productive learning environment to reach their full potential.

As a mother of two daughters, my hobbies are spending time with family and friends, shopping, and supporting THE JAGs.

Don't let anyone rob you of your imagination, your creativity, or your curiosity. It's our place in the world; It's your life. Go on and do all you can with it, and make it the life you want to live".... Dr. Mae C. Jemison
