McDonnell Elementary School extends its deepest gratitude to Dr. Clarence Sutton, Superintendent of Huntsville City Schools, Mr. AJ Buckner, Deputy Superintendent, and Mr. Fredrick Barnes, Director of Instruction, for their outstanding support in promoting daily student attendance.
On August 8, 2025, these distinguished leaders took time out of their busy schedules to join the McDonnell team during morning car rider drop-off, personally greeting families and handing out attendance pamphlets. Their presence helped emphasize the district-wide message: Every Day Counts.
The attendance pamphlets shared with parents and guardians highlighted the critical importance of students being present each day. Regular attendance not only improves academic performance but also builds strong routines and a sense of responsibility in our students. Having district leadership stand alongside our staff to deliver this message showed our families just how committed we all are to student success.
We are incredibly thankful for the continued partnership and support from our district leaders. Their willingness to be hands-on and visible in our school community means a great deal to our staff, students, and families.
Together, we are making strides toward a stronger future for every child at McDonnell Elementary.
