Every school day matters! At Mountain. Gap Elementary, consistent attendance builds strong learning habits, supports academic success, and helps our Grizzlies reach their full potential.
We are excited to celebrate students who demonstrate attendance and make meaningful improvements throughout the shcool year.

Monthly: Students have opportunities to earn special attendance coupons.
Quarterly: Students can earn a chance to spin the wheel for exciting prizes.
Sememter: Students who meet our attendance excellence criteria can earn the opportunity to participate in a special attendance celebration field trip!
Did You Know? Attendance Matters!
In Alabama, students who miss 10% or more of enrolled days are considered chronically absent. For a typical 180-day school year, that is just 18 days.
Both excused and unexcused absences count toward chronic absenteeism, including absences supported by a doctor's note. Chronic absenteeism is also a factor in our school's state report card.
While we understand that illnesses and an expected circumstances happen, we encourage families to a make daily attendance a priority whenever their child is healthy and able to attend school.
