students holding signs that say "hey" to greet other students in the morning

Mountain Gap Middle School hosted its first-ever “Hey Day”, inspired by the Auburn University tradition that began after World War II to help returning soldiers feel welcomed on campus. Students wore nametags and were encouraged to say “hey” to one another throughout the day. This simple act of greeting helped foster a sense of inclusion, friendship, and community across our school. What better way to brighten someone’s day than with a friendly “hey”!
