Mountain Gap Middle School students had an amazing time at the GEMS (Girls Engaged in Math and Science) Expo at the U.S. Space & Rocket Center! MGMS was proud to be the only Huntsville City Schools represented at this inspiring STEM event. Our students did a fantastic job presenting their research projects, including an 8th grade investigation on how red light refracts through different mediums, a 7th grade study exploring whether light wavelength affects plant growth, and a 6th grade “Solar Oven Showdown” that tested different solar oven shapes by making s’mores while learning about clean energy sources. In addition to presenting their projects, the girls spent the day building rockets, collaborating with other students, and participating in exciting STEM activities. We are incredibly proud of these young scientists and look forward to seeing how their passion for STEM continues to grow!
