three 6th grade students are sitting around a black circle and one student is about to roll a marble on the edge to demonstrate the effects of gravity between two objects of mass

Our 6th grade students recently took part in a lesson that was truly out of this world! Using a gravity well and marbles, they created models to explore how planets move in orbit around the sun. As they experimented, students observed how speed, mass, and distance all play a role in the motion of objects in space. This hands-on experience helped bring abstract concepts to life and encouraged students to think like real astronomers. It was an exciting way to turn curiosity into meaningful scientific understanding!
