Four teachers holding puppies that were used in a science class project

At MGMS, we love bringing real-world learning into the classroom! Our 7th grade students recently studied genetics by making predictions about the physical traits of a litter of puppies while one of our teachers was breeding her dogs. Using what they learned about inherited traits, students predicted characteristics such as fur color, markings, and other features. Today, the exciting moment finally arrived as students got to meet the puppies and discover whose genetic predictions were the most accurate. It was a fun and memorable way to see science come to life right before their eyes!
