In the 2026–2027 school year, students and educators from Chapman Middle School, Huntsville Junior High School, and McNair Junior High School will have the opportunity to participate in A+ College Ready Cohort 19, a statewide initiative that partners with schools to prepare students for success in college, career, and life through expanding access to Advanced Placement (AP) and other challenging coursework.

This program supports teachers and students through high-quality professional learning, instructional resources, ongoing coaching, and incentives across core content areas, including science, English, social studies, and computer science. Modeled after a proven framework implemented and supported by the Alabama State Department of Education for more than 15 years at the high school level, the initiative is designed to build academic excellence at the middle school and ensure students are well-prepared for the demands of high school coursework and future academic success.

“A+ College Ready is honored to announce our Cohort 19 Program Schools. Each of these schools has expressed a deep commitment to increasing academic expectations in their schools for ALL students. We look forward to a fruitful partnership resulting in students better prepared for future success,” said Dieatra Howie, Vice President, A+ College Ready.

The A+ Education Partnership works to create an Alabama where every student has access to a world-class education, regardless of circumstance. Driven by the relentless belief in every child, the initiative partners with educators and communities to expand access to a high-quality education so that every student can thrive.

Here at Huntsville City Schools, we are excited to see what the students and faculty at these three schools can achieve through this partnership.
