MLK House System Logo

Dear MLK Family,

We're excited to launch a new tradition at our school that builds community, character, and connection among our students! Each child will be placed into a house where they’ll earn points, build friendships, and take part in fun challenges throughout the year. Check out the letter below to learn more about how it works — and how you can be part of the journey! At MLK, we believe that every student deserves to feel a sense of belonging, pride, and motivation. The House System helps foster these feelings by grouping students and staff into one of four unique Houses, each with its own meaning, color, and culture. The houses are:

1. Isibindi (Green) – Courage
This House represents bravery, resilience, and the strength to overcome obstacles. Students in Isibindi are encouraged to be bold and courageous in and out of the classroom.

2. Amistad (Red) – Friendship
Rooted in kindness and loyalty, Amistad promotes genuine connection and teamwork. These students are known for their strong relationships and compassion for others.

3. Altruismo (Black) – Givers
Altruismo stands for generosity and selflessness. Members of this House find joy in giving, sharing, and uplifting those around them.

4. Reveur (Blue) – Dreamers
This House celebrates creativity, imagination, and big dreams. Reveur students strive for excellence through innovative thinking and vision.

We look forward to partnering with you as we roll out the House System this year. Please stay connected with your child’s House updates through Class Dojo, newsletters, and school events. Together, we can make this an empowering and unforgettable school year.
