During College & Career Week, Martin Luther King Jr. Elementary School brought back Dressed for Destiny, an initiative created by Ms. Quanisha Ford, 3rd Grade Teacher, to inspire scholars to see themselves as future leaders and professionals. Throughout the day, scholars had the opportunity to connect with community leaders, college students, and professionals who encouraged them to dream big and begin thinking about their future. The initiative was designed to help scholars understand that their future starts with the choices they make today. Ms. Ford launched Dressed for Destiny with the belief that our scholars should see leaders who look beyond the classroom and understand that there are people in their community who are willing to support, encourage, and invest in their dreams. The day was filled with excitement as scholars were greeted by volunteers and community partners who helped create an atmosphere centered around encouragement, mentorship, and possibility.
