On Friday, October 17th, Morris Middle closed out our month-long celebration of Hispanic Heritage with a bang! The program started at 9:00 with a hallway parade featuring drums, cheerleaders, flags, and traditional dress. The parade led the entire student body to the gym, where the drumline played and the cheerleaders performed a Conga line to the sounds of Gloria Estefan and the Miami Sound Machine. The elementary assistant principal, Mrs. Hudnall, joined us and led a salute to every Spanish-speaking country, accompanied by cheers and students waving flags. She then demonstrated some Latin dance steps with Mr. Davis (Band), accompanied by the music of the late Selena Quintanilla-Pérez Quintanilla. The celebration was topped off with a demonstration of an Afro-Latin traditional dance performed by community volunteers. ¡Honramos la herencia hispana!

Mr. Davis said the drumline asked to lead the parade. They created their routine themselves! Great job guys!
