This year, we did something a little different to celebrate Black History Month. At the beginning of February, students signed up to research an important African American. They spent the entire month gathering as much information as possible on their subject and creating a tri-fold display to showcase their findings. The project culminated in a "Wax Museum" presented on February 27.
Students portraying important figures arranged themselves along a path in the gym. Behind each student or group were displayed their tri-folds. Museum "patrons" then filed through and listened to the words of such personages as Mohammed Ali, Barack Obama, Rosa Parks, and Florence Griffith Joyner. We are proud of the hard work these students put into honoring African American History.
