Students sitting outside on wood table enjoying a picnic under a tree

Second graders enjoyed a special picnic lunch outside, taking advantage of the cooler fall weather. As they played and explored, one curious student made an exciting discovery on an oak tree trunk. The class gathered around to observe a cluster of Oak Processionary Moth caterpillars all huddled together. Students were fascinated by how the caterpillars moved and stayed close in a group. Their discovery sparked lots of wonder and questions about insects and their habitats. It was the perfect mix of fresh air, science, and outdoor fun!
