Three students standing in front of popcorn for popcorn movie party

This week, a dedicated group of GATE students turned a fun idea into a meaningful act of service by hosting a popcorn movie party for a great cause. As part of their service learning project, the “price of admission” was a blanket donation to support the Greater Huntsville Humane Society.

The students worked hard to prepare for the event, popping and bagging more than 270 bags of popcorn while creating a fun and welcoming experience for their peers. Their enthusiasm and teamwork made the event a huge success and they had a blast along the way.

Thanks to the generosity of our school community, the girls collected numerous blanket donations that will help provide comfort to animals in need. We are especially grateful to our supportive parents who helped make this project possible.

The students are already looking forward to delivering the donations in person when they volunteer at the shelter. Way to go, girls, for making a difference right here in our community!
