New Century High School’s Rho Kappa chapter hosted its second induction ceremony on August 20, 2025 during advisory. Rho Kappa is the only national organization for high school juniors & seniors that recognizes excellence in the field of social studies. They aim to promote leadership and civic engagement among students interested in social studies. They promote volunteering and community engagement in order to better our community.
Dr. Julie Johnson said before today, “This initiation ceremony is meant to bring recognition to the students who have been accepted into the chapter and are committing to advancing social studies in the New Century, both academically, and civic participation.”
The ceremony celebrated new inductees and awarded them a certificate solidifying their place in Rho Kappa National Social Studies Honors Society. The president, Hayden Railey, vice president, Cadel Hanks, and sponsor, Dr. Johnson, each presented a speech to give an introduction to the society. Dr. Johnson sends her congratulations to all new inductees, and she is eagerly anticipating a great year for Rho Kappa.
