In November, our research capstone interns took an adventure to the Academy of Gifted & Talented (AGT), where they have their very own research capstone class. Our research interns, Cailyn Brummer, Hayden Railey, Keirstin Baker, Kennedi Norwood, Oluwatofunmi Adojutelegan, presented the projects they have been working on this semester.
AGT identifies gifted students and gives them a chance to perform at high levels of education. Along with discussing their ongoing research, the interns spoke on passion projects they have created, literature and research papers they have written, and the articles they have produced for the school’s website. They also showed a Hispanic Heritage month presentation that was made for the 4th graders at Martin Luther King Elementary School and McDonnell Elementary School.
At AGT, research capstone students are currently working on their final project, a passion project of their choice. These projects allow the students to engage in their interests and conduct academic research. The students engaged in meaningful interactions with each other to speak on their individual projects and receive helpful feedback. This visit offered a valuable opportunity to engage with the community and celebrate their accomplishments.
