The week before Thanksgiving, Women in STEM hosted a series of professional skill-building stations designed to prepare students for success beyond high school. The four stations, professional attire, formal email writing, interviewing skills, and public speaking, focused on essential skills that will support our students in their future academic and career paths.
At the public speaking station, members learned how to deliver a clear and confident presentation. They practiced by creating short presentations and implemented the tips and tricks they were taught. In the professional attire station, students used paper dolls to plan appropriate workplace outfits while learning the difference between business and casual outfits.
During the interviewing skills session, members picked up quick effective ways to stand out during an interview, then put those skills to use in a game of interview-themed “charades.” At the formal email writing station, students learned why professional communication matters. They practiced drafting polished emails that demonstrated clarity and professionalism. WiSTEM members engaged thoughtfully and enthusiastically at each station. Their dedication to building their futures continues to impress us!
