All teams begin each competition season in August and September by researching, practicing, and preparing to bring their best to each individual competition round. Teams have to learn to work together, delegate tasks when needed, and get to know themselves better so that they understand when to pass off a current task to another teammate. This makes documenting your actions and changes in each round crucial so last-minute changes and updates can be made when needed. Each team then competes in the Practice and Training Rounds that now remain open for much of the competition season. This is to allow teams to test our strategies, codes that they have written, and to go through the motions of completing specific tasks to make certain they are as ready as possible when the pressure is on.
Each team’s scores from Competition Round 1 (in October) and Competition Round 2 (in November) are added together to determine which Tier-Level they will be placed at for the State Round Competition. Teams then have separate challenges and tasks assigned to them based on these tiers to make sure teams should be able to handle what is given to them. Finally, teams who qualify for the Semi-Finals Round by placing within the Top 25% of the teams competing in their Tier-Level for the State Round Competition then advance to the Semi-Finals.
