For the very first time, Ridgecrest hosted a Storybook Pumpkin Contest for teachers and staff. One of our aides, Perris Forde-Clark, came up with the idea and everyone thought it would be fun! The only rules were no carving the pumpkin, it had to be decorated, and based on a book character. We had twelve different entries and they were all very neat!! Click on this link to a video showing all of the decorated pumpkins on our Facebook page: Storybook Pumpkin Contest
During lunch this week, students voted for their favorite pumpkin. Then we had the adults vote for their favorite pumpkin too.
Perris and Ms. Gatzke tallied the votes, organized prizes for 1st Place and 2nd Place, and wrote the announcement.
Ms. O'Bradovich announced the winners on Halloween!! With 88 votes, Mrs. Treece won First Place with her Nightmare Before Christmas pumpkin and Ms. Ector's Stitch pumpkin won Second Place with 79 votes! It was very close. The students and everyone in the building really enjoyed seeing the creativity. We look forward to having the contest next year too!
