4th grade GATE students and staff pose with donated 3D-printed fidgets for children at St. Jude Hospital

Students in the 4th Grade GATE program at Rolling Hills Elementary recently turned creativity into compassion by donating 120 3D-printed fidget toys to St. Jude Children’s Hospital as part of a meaningful service-learning project.

Using classroom technology and innovative design skills, students worked together to design and print the toys with the goal of bringing comfort and joy to children receiving care at the hospital. The project allowed students to combine problem-solving, engineering, and community service while learning the importance of giving back to others.

The students proudly presented the completed toys after weeks of hard work, collaboration, and dedication. Through this experience, they not only strengthened their STEM skills, but also learned how their talents and ideas can positively impact others in their community.

Rolling Hills Elementary would like to extend a special thank you to Dr. Tracy Carter for her dedication to her GATE students and for encouraging their creativity, leadership, and innovative ideas throughout the project. Additional thanks goes to Dr. Timothy Wilkinson for helping students create some of the 120 of the 3D-printed toys alongside Dr. Carter and supporting this incredible initiative.

We are proud of our GATE students for using their talents to make a difference and for representing the caring spirit of Rolling Hills Elementary.
