Rolling Hills Elementary SGA Elections: Learning Democracy in Action

Democracy came to life at Rolling Hills Elementary during our SGA elections!

Under the leadership of Ms. Mah'kailah Brown, SGA Sponsor, students in grades 3–5 had an incredible opportunity to learn firsthand what it means to campaign, vote, and serve as a student leader.

SGA Candidates had the opportunity to campaign for office through creative posters, a campaign parade, and eloquent speeches presented to their peers. Each candidate worked hard to prepare thoughtful and well-written speeches that showcased their ideas and leadership goals.

To ensure every 3rd–5th grade student had a fair opportunity to participate, voting was conducted online. SGA members also served as election poll workers in the cafeteria, assisting voters and helping the election run smoothly.

The campaign parade was an exciting highlight, featuring a special visit from the Jemison High School Band, bringing even more energy and school spirit to the day!

More than an election, the event was an authentic learning experience. Students learned about civic participation, leadership, responsibility, public speaking, campaigning, and the importance of having a voice in their school community.

The day was a tremendous success, thanks to the hard work and dedication of Ms. Brown, our SGA candidates, all SGA members, staff, and everyone who helped make the election possible.

Congratulations to our newly elected SGA officers and to all of our SGA members! Your leadership, preparation, and execution helped make this event a true success.

At Rolling Hills Elementary, we aren't just preparing students for the future—we're giving them opportunities to lead today!
