Mrs. Lee and her students (Alayah Darden, Jalaya Townsend, Kiyan Hall, Ca'Layah Walton, Demetrus Jones, Ripley Hodges) wearing yellow celebrating "Colors Week"

Kindergarten at Sonnie Hereford Elementary wrapped up a joyful Color Week, and the entire Wildcat family joined in! Each day, our school community wore a featured color to celebrate what our youngest learners are studying: color recognition, vocabulary, and early science and art concepts. Hallways, classrooms, and even the bus line lit up as students and staff proudly represented the day’s hue.

Beyond the spirited dress-up, teachers wove color learning into hands-on activities across subjects. Kindergarteners sorted and graphed colorful objects in math, practiced reading and writing color words in literacy, explored color mixing in art, and moved through rainbow-themed stations in PE and music.

Color Week wasn’t just fun, it strengthened key skills: observing and describing, classifying, patterning, and following multi-step directions. It also built belonging. When the whole school participates, kindergarteners see that their learning matters to everyone.

Thank you to our families for helping students show up in each day’s color and to our teachers and staff for the creative lessons that made learning pop. We’re building school spirit, one color at a time, and we can’t wait for the next kindergarten adventure!
