Sonnie Hereford Elementary School proudly hosted its First Annual Wildcat Academic Showcase, a celebration recognizing the hard work, dedication, and academic success of its students during the first nine weeks of the school year. The event brought together students, families, and staff in a spirited display of Wildcat pride and community support.
The showcase served as an opportunity to highlight student achievement across multiple areas, including Honor Roll, Perfect Attendance, and i-Ready proficiency. Teachers and administrators beamed with pride as students walked the stage to receive their awards, while parents and families cheered them on from the audience.
“This event was about more than grades, it was about celebrating growth, effort, and perseverance,” said Assistant Principal Tiffany Pogue. “Our Wildcats continue to show that excellence is a habit, not a one-time event.”
Principal Mrs. Tarria Walters also expressed gratitude for the strong family and community turnout. “We are so thankful for our parents who continue to partner with us in building a culture of academic success and character. Our students thrive because of the support and love that surrounds them.”
The event concluded with a spirited round of applause for all award recipients and a challenge from the administrative team for every Wildcat to keep striving for excellence in the next nine weeks. The staff also gave special recognition to the teachers and support personnel whose daily commitment makes student success possible.
Sonnie Hereford’s Wildcat Academic Showcase is expected to become a new school tradition, reinforcing the importance of celebrating learning, effort, and community togetherness.
“This was a great way to honor the whole child; their academics, attendance, and attitude,” McGuire added. “We look forward to making this event even bigger and better each year.”
