Huntsville City Schools recently hosted its annual Golden Apple Gala, a special evening dedicated to celebrating Teachers of the Year from across the district. The gala served as a powerful reminder of the impact educators have on students, families, and the broader community, and Sonnie Hereford Elementary was proudly represented.

At this year’s celebration, Mrs. Henry, a first-grade teacher at Sonnie Hereford Elementary, was recognized as the Teacher of the Year for her school. Her selection reflects not only outstanding instructional practice, but also a deep, long-standing commitment to the Terry Heights community.

For more than 20 years, Mrs. Henry has poured her heart into academic excellence, relationship-building, and believing in every student who walks through her classroom door. Her dedication goes far beyond daily lessons. She consistently creates a nurturing learning environment where students feel valued, supported, and empowered to reach their full potential.

Mrs. Henry’s influence extends beyond her students. She is a trusted colleague, a mentor, and a steady source of encouragement within the Sonnie Hereford family. Her passion for education and unwavering belief in children inspire those around her to strive for excellence every day.

The Golden Apple Gala was a fitting tribute to educators like Mrs. Henry, teachers who shape futures, strengthen communities, and model what it truly means to serve with purpose. Her recognition is a proud moment for Sonnie Hereford Elementary and a reflection of the high standards upheld across Huntsville City Schools.

Mrs. Henry, thank you for going above and beyond, for inspiring both students and colleagues, and for representing what it truly means to be a Sonnie Hereford Champion. Your impact will be felt for generations to come.
