At Home Activities: Ways we can stay active together!

Here are some activities you can do at home with your family to stay active together. Staying active helps build healthy habits for the future, and doing it as a family makes it even more fun! If you try any of these activities, share your photos or videos with us on Facebook or Instagram!

1. Freeze Dance- Turn on music. Everyone dances until someone yells “FREEZE!” or until the music stops.

2. Animal Walks Race- Move like animals (bear crawl, crab walk, frog jumps, snake slither) from one end of a room to another.

3. Simon Says: Fitness Edition- Make up fun commands or exercises. Include commands like:

“Simon says do 10 jumping jacks.”

“Hop on one foot.”

“Run in place.”

“Simon says do a silly dance.”

4. Balloon Keep-Up- Use a balloon and try to keep it from touching the ground.

5. Indoor Obstacle Course- Use pillows, chairs, tape on the floor, and blankets for tunnels, jumps, and balance lines.

6. Hallway Bowling- Set up plastic cups or empty water bottles, and use a soft ball or rolled-up sock as your bowling ball.

7. Laundry Basket Skee-Ball- Roll or toss balled-up socks into laundry baskets placed at different distances.

8. Sock Basketball- Crumple socks into a ball and toss them into a hamper.

9. Scavenger Hunt With Movement- Have your child find different things within your home. Example tasks:

“Find something blue, then do 5 squats.”

“Bring me something round, then crab walk back!”

10. Family Relay Races- Use natural boundaries—tree to fence, driveway to sidewalk. Add fun tasks (spinning, hopping, skipping).

11. Shadow Tag- Tag by stepping on someone’s shadow.

12. Nature Walk Bingo- Make simple bingo cards (leaf, rock, bird, flower). Walk and search.

13. Four Corners (Driveway Version)- Assign each corner an action (jumping jacks, sprint, hop, squat).

14. Sidewalk Chalk Fitness Course- Use chalk to draw an “obstacle course”:

Hopping squares

Repeat 3–4 rounds.
