Hello Whitesburg Families!

What a great week of teaching and learning we have had at the Burg! September is Suicide Prevention Month, and at Whitesburg Elementary, our focus will be on promoting positive mental health and helping our students build the skills they need to care for themselves and one another.

Our elementary students will not be presented with discussions about suicide or self-harm. Instead, our counselor and teachers will use age-appropriate lessons and activities centered around mental health awareness, coping skills, connection, personal strength, and knowing when and how to ask for help.

Throughout the month, students will hear a positive mental health message during our weekly announcements and participate in activities designed to remind them that their minds matter, they have tools to help themselves, they can help one another, and asking for help is a strength.

Our four weekly themes will be:

  • My Mind Matters – Everyone has mental health.

  • Coping Skills – I have tools to help myself.

  • Connection – We can help each other.

  • Asking for Help – Help is a strength.

We are excited to use this month as an opportunity to build strong, healthy, and supportive Lions! 🦁💙🧡

Thank you for your support! I am blessed to serve with you at the BURG! One Team. One Pride 🦁
