After an inspiring 28 years of teaching, Stacy Payseur is retiring, marking the end of a remarkable career dedicated to Huntsville City Schools. Stacy’s connection to the district began even earlier, with 32 years of service including her time as a substitute teacher while still in college.
Stacy’s teaching journey started at Rolling Hills Elementary before moving to Farley, where she taught one year in 5th grade and another year in Kindergarten. The majority of her career, however, has been devoted to 1st grade, including over a decade at Weatherly Heights Elementary since 2011.
Reflecting on her career, Stacy offers heartfelt advice to new teachers: “Teaching is hard and it can consume all of your time if you let it. To new teachers, I would encourage you to not neglect your family. If you keep your family first, all the school things will fall into place. Take time to enjoy these kiddos that have been put in your classroom. They need to know that they are loved and respected, and then they will bloom in education.”
Looking ahead to retirement, Stacy plans to enjoy camping trips with her husband and spend precious time with their grandkids—free from the constraints of the school calendar. Though stepping back from full-time teaching, she will continue subbing, bringing her expertise to classrooms across the district. “It feels like it has come full circle. I began subbing, and I will end subbing. It will be nice to make my own schedule now.”
In addition to her adventures with family, Stacy looks forward to spending quality time with her mother, cherishing those special moments.
Weatherly Heights thanks Stacy Payseur for her decades of dedication, passion, and the positive impact she has made on countless students and colleagues. Her legacy of love and respect in education will continue to inspire.
