January is recognized across Alabama as Gifted Education Month, a time to highlight the unique learning needs of gifted students while also recognizing how gifted education practices support learning for all students.
Gifted students are learners who demonstrate advanced abilities in areas such as reasoning, creativity, problem solving, or academic achievement. Families play an important role as well. Encouraging curiosity, valuing effort over perfection, and engaging children in conversations about their thinking helps reinforce the skills and dispositions developed through gifted education practices.
