WHES teachers in autism awareness t-shirts gather in a hallway, promoting inclusivity and support.

Weatherly Heights Elementary School joined schools and communities around the world on April 2 in recognizing World Autism Awareness Day. This annual observance is dedicated to increasing understanding and awareness of autism.

Autism is a developmental difference that affects how individuals communicate, learn, and interact with others. Each person with autism brings unique strengths, perspectives, and ways of experiencing the world.

Staff members at Weatherly Heights marked the day, as shown in the accompanying photo, by wearing autism awareness shirts in recognition of this global event.

World Autism Awareness Day provides an opportunity for schools and communities to continue building understanding and awareness while recognizing the diversity within all learning environments.
