Teacher works out a math problem for online students.

Math teacher Ginger Clark was named the first Teacher of the Year for Artemis Virtual Academy.

Clark teaches mathematics for grades 7-12, totaling over 150 students. She holds certifications in elementary education, secondary education, biology, math, English and general science. She is originally from Mississippi where she taught for three years before moving to Florida.

Dr. Jennifer McKinney informed Clark of her nomination on Nov. 15. She cited Clark's professionalism, ability to communicate the material with her students and her willingness to work as part of the team as reasons Clark deserves the award.

"I am deeply honored to have been nominated for Teacher of the Year. This recognition means so much to me, and I am truly grateful to be surrounded by such supportive colleagues, administration and students," Clark said.
