Teacher gives instruction to three students.

For English teacher Clayton Wilson, debate is an integral part of his teaching tenure. That is why he established the Artemis Debate Team for students, grade 7-12.

" Debate encourages students to broaden their general knowledge and interest in current affairs," Wilson said. "I wanted to bring this experience to Artemis."

There are currently seven members on the debate team. They meet once a week on Thursdays from noon to 1 p.m.

"Our meetings cover the debate process and form. To liven the atmosphere, the students have had their chance  at debating me on specific topics they hold dear to heart," Wilson said. "I can see the growth. The students are very fast learners. They have shown a tremendous amount of growth since our first meeting."

Wilson is currently looking for new members who want to learn the art of debate. The next meeting will be Dec. 5.

"Our future meetings will focus on refining our debate skills. We are looking to enter our first debate competition soon," Wilson said.
