A group of young students look as their rocket is launched.

Students in grades third through sixth took a field trip the the U.S. Space & Rocket Center on Friday, March 31.

Students toured the Museum, participated in a lab and took in an interactive lecture in the Museum's Planetarium.

"We learned about asteroids and how not to fear them," fourth grader Franklin Nabity said.

The hands-on lab allowed students to make their own rocket fuel that was then used to launch a rocket outside the Museum as the students looked on. Both rockets launched, showing the students that their fuel formula's were correct.

"The staff told us that they had never seen a group of students collaborate with each other so well. With this being the first time most of the students had met, that meant a lot to us," teacher Sabrina Priest said.
