Fourth grade girl jumps rope.

The sound of laughing resonated throughout Artemis on Friday, May 8 as students in grade K-12 enjoyed the sunshine at the Inaugural Field Day.

Students in grades K-6 participated in sack races, relay races, jump rope, tug-of-war, ring toss and disc golf.

"I went for the classic games for our first field day," organizer and PE teacher, Arick Shankles said. "I organized it for students to rotate to the different events so they were able to try every game out."

The competition got serious when students in grades 7-12 arrived. Students took on four-members of the staff in a kick-ball game with the staff taking the win.

"It was four of us against 20 of them," Dr. Jennifer McKinney said. "Of course, we got the victory.
