Teacher Chrissy Gleason is a fan of Mahjong, playing at least three times a month with her friends. So, naturally she wanted to pass on the fun game to her students.
"My young daughter learned to play the game, and she taught her grandparents how to play," Gleason said. "I wanted to bring the game into the classroom for our students in grades K-6 to learn how to play as well."
Seven students attended the first club meeting held Friday, Sept. 18. Gleason and teacher Samantha Hall educated the students on the basics and instructed students through their first full game of Mahjong.
"It is fun to play," fourth-grader Emerald Hammonds said. "And Mrs. Gleason is a good teacher."
