GHS Students and Families,
September begins attendance awareness month, but it's never too early to speak on the importance of daily attendance. Please be mindful that with traditional block scheduling, students may miss significant amounts classroom instruction if out for an extended period of time. We aim to have as many of our Tigers with us as possible each day.
CERT ACT Practice Test - Tuesday 08/18
All students grades 9-11 are required to complete a full CERT practice test this week. CERT is an ACT Prep platform used by our school to collect student performance data to drive our instruction.
Students will test first thing in the morning on Tuesday. Students will report to Advisory upon entering the building, and the full assessment will take 2:45. After testing, students will report to lunch, then we'll run an abbreviated schedule so students will see all 4 of their classes in the afternoon.
Picture Day
Spoiled Rotten Photography will be in the Gym for student portraits on 08/20 and 08/21. Please go to the Spoiled Rotten Photography website for more info. All orders are placed online, and you’ll receive an email notification from SRP once your photos are ready for viewing.
We’ll also have additional sessions for Seniors for tux and drape photos on those same dates. You may sign up on the sign up sheet link.
Drop Off
Please remember that students may be dropped off in the Car Line next to Haysland Rd. up until 8:30 each morning. After 8:30, all students must be checked in at the Attendance Office. For safety and security reasons, please do not drop off any students at the front office.
Club Day(s)
Each year, our clubs and extracurricular programs host a Club Day for students in the Gymnasium during Advisory. This is a great opportunity for your Tiger to learn about the many ways they can get involved here at Grissom. Juniors and Seniors will attend on 08/25, Sophomores on 08/26, and Freshmen on 08/27. There is something for everyone, so please encourage your Tiger to get involved!
PTSA Open House
Our annual PTSA Open House is scheduled to take place on 08/25 at 6:00 PM. This is your chance to meet the teachers, get a look around campus, and hopefully join our amazing PTSA! We’ll begin in the Auditorium at 6:00 and then families will have a chance to visit their student’s classes.
