Middle School students tour the Precision Machining lab

The Huntsville Center for Technology recently welcomed 8th and 9th grade students from across the district for an exciting, hands-on tour of our brand-new, state-of-the-art facility. The visit gave students an early look at the wide range of Career and Technical Education (CTE) programs available to them as they begin planning for high school and beyond.

During their tour, students stepped inside our program labs. Program representatives demonstrated equipment, showcased student projects, and highlighted the real-world skills taught in each pathway. Many students experienced these high-tech spaces for the first time, sparking new curiosity about careers they had never considered.

The purpose of the tour was to help students understand how CTE can equip them with valuable technical and professional skills, whether they plan to enter the workforce directly after high school, continue to college, or pursue advanced training. By seeing each program up close, students can make more informed decisions when selecting their high school courses and exploring future career opportunities.

Students also learned about the expectations and benefits of enrolling in CTE programs, including industry-recognized certifications, hands-on learning with modern equipment, and the chance to apply classroom knowledge in meaningful, career-focused ways.

The application to apply to our 10 programs is now available in each HCS student's Clever account. Students can apply for:

  • Automotive Technology

  • Building Science

  • Cosmetology

  • Culinary

  • Engineering Design

  • Education and Training

  • Greenpower

  • Industrial Technology

  • Precision Machining

  • Welding

As Huntsville City Schools continues investing in workforce development and innovative education, experiences like these play a key role in preparing students for long-term success. We look forward to welcoming these future learners back to the Huntsville Center for Technology as they advance through their educational journeys.
