The Culinary Arts program recently held a CTEats Bakery Preview Day as a taste test experience for students, giving culinary students the opportunity to test their menu items and customer service procedures in a real world setting.
The event took place in the Culinary Café, which is fully operated by Culinary Arts students. During the preview, first block HCT students were invited to participate as customers and sample a variety of breakfast items, including muffins, breakfast burritos, cinnamon rolls, lemonade, and coffee.
This taste test allowed culinary students to practice essential skills such as food preparation, timing, customer interaction, order accuracy, and workflow procedures. Students also received valuable feedback on the menu items, helping them make improvements before officially offering products through CTEats.
The Preview Day was an important learning experience that helped students understand what it takes to successfully run a bakery and café environment. By testing their menu and procedures with real customers, students gained confidence and hands on experience that prepares them for careers in the culinary and hospitality industries.
We are proud of the hard work our Culinary Arts students put into making CTEats and we cannot wait to see what else comes out of the kitchen!
