Advanced Engineering Design students are getting hands-on experience with cutting-edge metal additive manufacturing, including Laser Power Bed Fusion (LPBF) technology. In this partnership with Auburn University Applied Research Institute and Research Engineering Lee Fleming, students are learning everything from metal powders, machine operation, and safety to build preparation, post-procession, quality control, inspection, and mechanical testing. Students are also gaining experience with EOSPRINT software and working with the program's two EOS m290 metal additive manufacturing systems. This unique partnership is giving students real-world, industry relevant skills that can prepare them for careers, internships, certifications, and continued education in advanced manufacturing and engineering.
