Battalion Commander for the Lee/New Century Technology General Battalion Cadet Lieutenant Colonel (C/LTC) Philip Altman was presented the Legion of Valor with Bronze Cross on March 30, 2023, by Lieutenant General (LTG) Christopher Mohan, the Deputy Commanding General for the Army Materiel Command (AMC).  The award and recognition was presented to C/LTC Altman for his outstanding academic achievements and dedication both in and outside of the JROTC program.

C/LTC Philip Altman is an accomplished young man that never settles for mediocrity. His GPA of 4.1 coupled with his score of 33 on the ACT is demonstrative of that point, while also providing him unlimited options for the next phase of his life. He is a member of the National Honor Society, Air Rifle Team, JLAB Team, PT Team, and CyberPatriot Team. In his spare time, he is also a part of an ultimate frisbee team and remains highly engaged with his church and community.

When asked why he joined JROTC, C/LTC Altman says that “JROTC gave me the confidence I needed to try things I wouldn’t usually do, and belonging to something greater than myself is a good feeling.”

After Graduation, C/LTC Altman plans to attend the Colorado School of the Mines and major in Mechanical Engineering.
