Testing Season Begins After Spring Break

Testing season begins soon at Huntsville City Schools with the administration of two major standardized tests, the Alabama Comprehensive Assessment Program (ACAP) and the ACT Plus Writing.

ACAP

The ACAP is a standardized test designed to help families and schools understand where their students are in relation to learning the Alabama State Department of Education's (ALSDE) course of study standards. Students in grades 2-8 take assessments covering English language arts and math. Students in grades 4, 6, and 8 are also tested in science. Schools will begin ACAP testing after Spring Break and will be providing families with information about when testing will occur at each campus.  For more information, please review the Parent/Family Guide to the ACAP. (Please note: this document is provided by ALSDE and may not be fully Section 508 compliant for accessibility.)

ACT

On Tuesday, April 11, students in the 11th grade will be taking the ACT Plus Writing.  All 9th, 10th, and 12th graders will engage in e-learning on this day. This schedule adjustment will help accommodate 11th graders who will be taking part in testing. All 9th, 10th, and 12th graders will not report to campuses and instruction will occur virtually. This e-learning day will only impact high schools. All other grade levels will proceed with normal operations and not be affected by this schedule adjustment.
