Congratulations to Huntsville City School's own Owen Brown, an eighth grade student at Huntsville Junior High (HJHS), who won the Madison County Spelling Bee! Owen won the bee in the ninth round with the correct spelling of the word acquiesce and now advances to the statewide Alabama Spelling Bee.
Students from all three school systems in Madison County participated in the event on Tuesday, February 7, held at the Academy for Academics and Arts (AAA) in Huntsville. Special thanks to all the faculty, staff, and parents in attendance who helped encourage each of the contestants.
The statewide spelling bee will be held at the University of Alabama at Birmingham (UAB) in March. We wish Owen the best of luck!
