TSF Presents Checks to Jemison Feeder Schools

Monday morning, The Schools Foundation (TSF) presented checks totaling $6,000 to schools in the Mae Jemison High School feeder pattern in District 1, which includes the following schools:

  • Jemison High
  • McNair Junior High
  • Dawson Elementary
  • Highlands Elementary
  • Lakewood Elementary
  • Rolling Hills Elementary

Each of these six schools received an individual check for $1,000 from money raised through the “Bricks for Education” program which began in 2020 and supports the Johnson Legacy Center.

“Community partnerships are probably one of the most valuable things that school districts want and need, and we have that here in Huntsville,” said HCS Superintendent Christie Finley. “I really commend The Schools Foundation for the partnership that we’ve always had with them.”

Community members were able to purchase one of two different sized bricks which will be used in the construction of the new Education Pathway at the Johnson Legacy Center as a way to permanently leave their legacy on the community while also supporting students of North Huntsville.

The Schools Foundation Executive Director Stephanie Kelley said, “our sole purpose is to provide funding, programming, and advocacy for the public schools in our three districts, and we’re honored to do that work.”

Huntsville City Schools extends a sincere thank you to The Schools Foundation and all the various donors in the community who contributed to these funds which will impact our classrooms, teachers, and students directly.
